Hawaii’s Papakolea - Green Sand Beach is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve seen in a while - and one of only four in the world! The greenish hue comes from olivine - a mineral contained in certain volcanic rock & emanating from a prehistoric eruption of nearby Mauna Loa (the world’s largest active volcano). The beach’s remote location on Big Island makes it feel extra special, falling very close to the southernmost point in the US.
