Ever see a GROUP of praying mantises? Nor had I! While running at Bradley Woods Reservation I noticed one and upon looking closer…3, 4, 5 rotate-y alien heads looking my way. These are Chinese Mantids, which grow to an impressive four inches in length. These are not exactly native to Ohio but have outcompeted the native Carolina Mantids & are by far the most common in our area. Decided to adjourn the run, and with no macro lens, this shot was taken at f/16 @ 400mm - along with a couple hundred burs in the process!
