Searching for pint-sized Northern Saw-whet Owls is a favorite endeavor in life & one I fail at OFTEN. Finding this tiny male on Superb Owl Sunday was an absolute highlight & easily the most photographic seen in ten years or more. Regardless…the bird’s alert posture was cause to back off after firing off an initial burst. This tiny male was scarcely bigger than a pop can & well-hidden in a conifer. Safe return to the boreal forests, little buddy…maybe I’ll get lucky in another decade!
