Fall photo shoot with "Martin and Clair" - the apparent resident eagle pair along Martin Luther King Dr. in Cleveland. I gather these two began inhabiting the riparian corridor along Doan Brook, also Cleveland‘s cultural gardens, a couple years ago. The first nest they constructed blew down, but a renovated version has gone up since.
My excitement came not from the Bald Eagle sighting alone. This pair were darn near eye level, perched amongst peak fall foliage, and in the most urban of settings - with traffic rushing by yards away. We’re easily desensitized by the daily wonders of life with fingertip access to viral media. I’ve seen thousands of eagles in Ohio (literally), their comeback story is remarkable, and none of those previous experiences was as unexpected or touching as this one
