Ever see a baby hummingbird? Neither had I…until a few days ago! This guy is long-gone from the nest at this point. It’d sit up on the nest edge that day & flap its wings furiously. The crazy thing is – when I’d visited a week before, there wasn’t a youngster in sight. It must’ve fit perfectly below eye-level in that lichen-covered teacup (Ruby-throated Hummingbird nests are bound together by spider web and coated with lichen for camouflage).
