Seeing all the familiar symptoms for a great sunset Sat. evening, I threw the kayak on the roof & headed to Lorain Harbor. What wasn't planned for was the sizable surf pounding the beach where I had planned to launch. Maybe the launch could be timed, and I could slip between the waves?? 1,2,3, ...and boom - face & boat full of Lake Erie silt & water!
Ultimately, taking the high ground & high-tailing it over to the pier was the right move. It was ironically calm in the marina's sheltered waters, making for wonderfully preserved reflections. It felt good to find an angle of Lorain Harbor that hadn't been photographed 1000 times, which was the goal in the first place!
