Not sure what I’ve done to deserve all these cool experiences lately, but will take it! This is a piebald White-tailed Deer – the first I’ve seen in many years. The fact that it was a buck & also standing in a patch of Black-eyed Susan…well, that’s just icing on top. Won’t get too specific about the location…hunters like to target these beauties. But, it’s on protected land in northeast Ohio. Piebald deer are affected by a condition that leaves patches of their coat devoid of pigment – not to be confused with total albinism.
This photo was the result of a (mostly failed) attempt to shoot firefly light trails - for the record 😊
